That's great to hear! Canine family members should never have been banned from that beach!

Very early and Very late, before and after the Puppy Nazi's arrives or goes home for the evening. 15 min after sunset is perfect to let Fido have some fun and let the local kids enjoy the time as well. Once a dog is on the beach, you have a lot of friends and more smiles than usual. Be alert as there are stray dogs around and even though they are generally friendly, they travel in packs and can be territorial to a strange dog.

I was not saying they are allowed because I don't know the law, that's why I am asking what is the current law. Because people are taking them on the beach, people do what they can get away with, not what is the law. :-)

Dogs are not allowed on the beach, there are signs at the three main entrances. But if you are a responsible dog owner of a well behaved dog, and want to take them to the beach, suggest you do it in the early morning or late evening. Watching them play in the surf is so much fun, regardless of what the rules are. If you do not like dogs or are afraid of dogs, suggest you keep your distance as they may poop on your towel and eat your taco.

I was hoping to get a straight answer, yes or no if dogs are allowed. After re-reading I see there is an answer and I thank you for it. But in reality the taco or blanket comment has little value other than an assumed attempt to put anyone who supports the ruling in their "rightful place". Not necessary. I enjoy only having to wash sand off my feet because of today's date, I have yet to meet a responsible dog owner.

Otherwise if anyone is interested in what shaped my opinion on responsible dog owners is to spend a great deal of time in Guanajuato Capital. The city is completely land locked without a piece of grass to be found. The cement and rock surfaced callejones demand only foot traffic and it is very insightful to see people walking theirs and other's dogs each day and especially in the morning. One soon finds out that beginning at the top of the city's hundreds of stair cases, the "markings" of the previous day's dog walks start out a soft and slowly hardening piles. As the non-suspecting tourists (the locals know to watch) go about their daily business with their noses stuck in their phones and they do the work sort of like a grape crusher at a winery. The morning begins the "flattening process" and thus we end up with pancakes. I used to spend hours sitting in Mexiamora Plaza in the mornings and my favorite resident was a lady who came out with a bucket of lie water and a ragged broom to spread on top of the daily poop collection and she always would curse to the top of her lungs for all the dog excrement. I started having some respiratory problems after a while and I finally realized the powder in the air down in the center of the city was not dust but it was powdered dog poop. It starts on these stairs all around the city, gets pounded by shoes until it keeps getting crushed and re-crushed until what you have is "dog dust" in the city center. Your eyes also burn many times and this is a good suspect. It's also fun each morning to watch each homeowner or maid come out of houses along the callejones and wash the dog poop down the callejone in front of the doorway with more water and more chemicals until it eventually collects where it serves best, in the Union Plaza that tourists frequent.

Anyway, thanks for allowing me to share another amusing anecdote regarding multi-faceted Mexico. Cheers.

And what does this have to do with having dogs on the beach at La Ropa? Apples and Oranges! BTW there are lots of responsible dog owners in Zihuatanejo!

Oh, yeah! I have noticed the plentiful dog feces from the dogs of all the responsible dog owners in Zihua. Doing their part to fertilize the concrete sideways and roadways!

There are lots of irresponsible ones as well! Like the ones who let their dogs run free and crap all over the place!

You are right
We stay in the La Madera neighborhood and can hear the dogs bark all night long. Strays or a$$hole owners?
