It has begun. Went to Barracruda today. All the light stands had been removed. From calle Nicolaus Bravo to the statue all the paving stones had been removed. No trees have been removed yet. Who knows what tomorrow will bring.

They may also be replacing the old water and waste water lines too. If that were the case then those improvements should be welcome and domestic water losses underground from old infrastructure may be more then we think. Who knows?

The water, sewage and wiring were replaced about 20 years ago when the rest of the adoquín streets were torn up got all the faux brick streets.

20 years is a long time. Considering the materials used here and the harsh climate.

Not near as long as most of the rest of downtown. This entire repaving project is simply unnecessary. A money grab. Same as the road to Capricho del Rey.

Don't expect locals to be honest with visitantes extranjeros about such matters. They want to paint a rosy picture for you, especially if they have something to sell you.

Not a marketing pitch, just a fact and my own experience spending a lifetime living in tourist resort destinations. Locals discuss matters differently among themselves than with foráneos.
