Protección Civil del Estado de Guerrero says we should expect strong winds and high waves beginning this coming Friday and expected to last several days. Winds are expected to be around 27 to 37 km/h with gusts up to 55 to 65 km/h. Waves along coastal areas facing the open ocean are expected to reach between 2.1 and 3 meters in height. For those of you who live along the open ocean, take precautions. Expect beach erosion.

My wife and I are extremely saddened by the closing of Panadería Buen Gusto on Calle Vicente Guerrero where we have purchased our breads and pan dulce for over 3 decades. Whatever business the nasty person responsible for rudely throwing out the family who has run the bakery and lived there for generations opens, we will be sure to boycott. Gracias a Lupita y a su familia por atendernos con tanto cariño y bondad por tantos años. Siempre estarán en nuestros corazones.

Lots of folks dancing at the pier this evening as the Sailfest festivities got underway. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Today was a bit overcast for much of the day, but still plenty warm and breezy. Just another typical picture-postcard-perfect day in tropical paradise.

[image]Whether you want to go whale watching, sportfishing, sightseeing or snorkeling, my friend Capitán Ramón Olea of the panga Oleaje offers an affordable adventure waiting to be enjoyed. Ramón knows all the local fishing and snorkeling spots as well as what else is worth seeing. His 24' covered panga doesn't offer much luxury, but his expertise in fishing and his local knowledge of our coast and its marine life is second to none! Ramón practices "catch and release" fishing when possible.

Veleros de visitantes llenan parte de la bahía de Zihuatanejo durante la temporada de turismo invernal. Algunos se quedan por varios meses. Muchos regresan año con año.

We walked by El Buen Gusto about noon today, hoping to find those wonderful stuffed French toast postres. There were so many cops with long guns in front of the pasteleria that we thought a shooting had taken place. Was all that for the family's eviction? Damn!

We will not set foot in whatever establishment sets up shop there. Screw 'em.

I am shocked and saddened by the sudden closing (eviction) of my "go to" bakery in Zihuatanejo. For more than 10 years, I've been stopping by to purchase deliciously fresh, top quality pastries and bread products on a 2-3 times a week basis during my 2+ months winter stay in Zihua. Never really knew the name of the panaderia, but enjoyed talking to both of the sisters who waited on me, brushing up on my Spanish and offering a few words of advice on English pronunciations. I hope that the family re-opens in another location. Meantime, they will be missed.

As for why that happened,
was the property sold?
What / who caused the closing?
