Looking for a Canadian hit & run driver
Either Thursday or Friday afternoon the driver of a vehicle with Canadian plates from Quebec G81 NQQ (not GB1 NQQ as I originally posted) hit a motorcyclist near the Ixtapa Mirador (lookout point), but instead of stopping to help the young man on the motorcycle, the driver continued on his way north along the coast. The young man is Adolfo Torres, and he was injured and his motorcycle was damaged. I'd like to give the driver of the vehicle the opportunity to do the right thing without getting any authorities involved. If you recognize this vehicle and/or know who the driver is, please either contact me directly or contact Adolfo Torres via his Facebook page.

Looking for a Canadian hit & run driver - a question
I'm not able to enlarge the photos of the suspect vehicle enough to determine if the correct license # is GB1-NQQ or G81-NQQ.
From my understanding the sequence is; first is a letter then 2 numbers before the three letter suffix.
Perhaps there is another picture available that can assist in determining if it is an "B" or a "8"
Roberto!

According to Google, you're correct, Roberto. The plate number is G81-NQQ.
(Missed you at La Ropa. We were there from 8 Jan - 19 Feb)

Gracias, tocayo. Thank you for the clarification.

The chase car seems to have a cracked windshield; was it involved in the accident as well?

No, just a good Samaritan who saw the accident and took photos of the vehicle involved.

To be precise - it's the driver who is being sought. The Driver may, or not, be a Canadian. Last time I saw a Quebec licensed mini-van in Zihua I stuck up a conversation with the owner - a Mexican (from DF) who'd been living in Quebec for a few years and made the long journey south in his vehicle, and was in Zihua on vacation. People do this.
Looking for a Canadian hit & run driver - a question
"Probably doesn´t really matter what the exact plate number and/or sequence is, Watson."
"Hopefully, someone in authority in Guerrero State has already sought cooperation from the Dept. of Motor Vehicles in Quebec. They would "run" both plate numbers through the MV Registry and pay a visit to any residential address corresponding to either/both of those plate numbers."
Then, perhaps they would be told by a neighbour "Oh, Mon. Jacques is on holiday in Mexico at the moment. Case closed."
"I think you´ve got it, Mr. Holmes."

Though the above incident is of a whole 'nother magnitude, I'm reminded of the shocking murder of Al Rak back in Feb/2014, the hunt for fugitive Canadian Frank Sheppard and the equally-shocking early release of the actual murderers.
Anyone heard of any developments over the ensuing decade?

True. I think that “Looking for Owner of a Quebec-plated Vehicle” would be more accurate. If you find the owner, you would likely be able to determine the driver.
I know that it is not legal for a Mexican citizen or a permanent resident to drive a foreign-plated vehicle. I also know that it happens. And I know the consequences can be serious, including confiscation of the vehicle.
I know this by indirect experience. When I had temporary residency I had a foreign-plated vehicle. A person agreed to drive my vehicle to a shop to have some paint work done. They were stopped and I almost lost my vehicle.
Now imagine you were driving a vehicle illegally. You see that you bumped someone, injured them, but did not kill them. You understand that the vehicle of your employer or friend will likely be confiscated if you remain at the scene. Lots of people, regardless of nationality, might drive away, hoping for the best.
Given that there is a witness and photographs, “the best” for the driver might not happen.

Dont think that you can look up a Canadian licence plate on line unless you have special access, Qui? (privacy issues and thank you for our laws) I have asked a few friends if they know cops that would do that as I am skiing in Quebec at this moment however none have acquaintences that are cops. Good luck if you do not want to involve the police

Mexican Border should have that info avaiable to Mx police
