La Ropa around sunset

Hi, I like to walk back o Madera back along LA Ropa at sunset after dinner and drinks on the far end. Is this anything to be worried about crime wise? I usually back before it's too dark. Thanks

Done it many times. Never had any problems. Of course, one can always be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

You should be fine, but it can't hurt to try to walk with other people. The road is well traveled and holdups are extremely rare. There was a problem earlier last year, but the culprits were caught. Personally, I walk fast and always wear a big knife on my belt, and it's kept me out of trouble most of my life.

The only possible trouble that has come creeping my way over the years is past the pier on De la Noria. A guy in a dark hoodie who looked like he was heading my way around sundown as I headed back to my hotel with no one around. Was looking forward to pushing him down that steep slope at the edge of the road if he made a clear move toward me. Or running like hell. Or a little of both.

Thanks, all good advise and relatively safe as i thought. Just need to be aware and move away from anything suspicion.

Would the recommendations differ between walking along the La Ropa road after dark, versus walking along the beach after dark?

Depends on how vulnerable you feel. Personally, I never feel vulnerable unless I'm staggering drunk. Though it's been decades since I used to make that walk every day, often multiple times a day, I still wouldn't hesitate to walk to and from La Ropa at any time of day. But like I said earlier, I'm always armed with at least a knife if not also my short machete that I carry in my beach bag, partly to discourage stupid people who are too lazy to work for a living.
