Carnival 2024

I see that Carnaval is around the 3rd weekend of March. What determines when it is held? Does it follow around the celebration of the birthday of Benito Juarez? I’ve heard it is a very colorful parade and would like to see it sometime. Gracias

I think it is just scheduled between other dates that tourists come for, so as to spread things out. It has nothing to do with Lent.
