The Autopista Siglo XXI has been closed for most of this afternoon and evening after a terrible accident at the bridge on the state line between Guerrero and Michoacán, and when the bomberos arrived on the scene their brakes apparently failed and they crashed into the already raging conflagration. So anyone planning on driving to Michoacán should check road conditions first. The bridge may be damaged and closed for repairs.

It got a bit warm today, but the waves in the bay have calmed down a little. Not as big as they were for much of the weekend and Monday. Supposed to get cool this Tuesday night. Down to 16°C. Brrrrr!

Arrived to the beach this morning to walk my pup when I saw a couple of women trying to save some baby turtles. With a little help from some friends, we called Protección Civil (los Bomberos) as is standard protocol for sea turtle problems, got a bucket and dug up a few more turtle who seemed unusually weak. I didn't dig far enough to reach the actual nest before the folks from PC arrived, so I left it for them. Unfortunately, and much to the frustration of the two women trying to rescue them, sea birds ate most of the hatchlings. Life & death struggles before coffee. What a way to start the day.
