While Gringos' eyes are glued to their TV screens watching the Oscars, Zihuatanejenses' eyes are glued to the beautiful young women competing to be the Reina del Carnaval de Zihuatanejo 2024 this Sunday evening at the Cancha Municipal. It's so crowded along the waterfront we didn't even bother with our evening stroll. The plaza was as far as we got. Downtown roads are blocked and the waterfront is jam-packed. Good to see everyone out'n'about and the street vendors doing a good business.

Our day couldn't have been lovelier here in Zihuatanejo. Beachgoers enjoyed a memorable and picturesque day with balmy breezes and some small waves to play in if they were so inclined. Oceangoers are still seeing whales in the area, though they will soon be returning to their northern homes, so if you want to take a whale watching tour, now is the time!

One of the nicer vacation rentals in La Madera neighborhood is Casa Linda located atop the small hill at La Madera with views of the bay and town. Three apartments that can be rented all together or individually, each beautifully decorated with Mexican handcrafts. One with two en-suite bedrooms and two with one bedroom each as well as a sofa or pull out bed. All with full kitchens, living area, balconies, and shared access to a garden with BBQ facilities as well as the rooftop terrace.
