Hola I'm at a favourite bar in centro having a cervaza and all hell breaks loose. It's 8:10. A barrage of fireworks let's loose at the cancha for carnival. Right beside SPAZ. What the f? Poor animals. I thought this was banned

Behold the Misanthrope!

You used a word incorrectly.

Misanthropy is the general hatred, dislike, or distrust of the human species, human behavior, or human nature. A misanthrope or misanthropist is someone who holds such views or feelings.:kingtut:

Fire works next to Spaz is totally inconsiderate to the poor animals. But then the organizers are in tune with the ME Me mentality

We are on la Ropa. One dog doesn't care, the other is almost deaf and wanted to be held, and the other, under the bed for an hour.

Can just imagine how the animals at SPAZ did. ASSHOLES!!!

You used a word incorrectly.

Misanthropy is the general hatred, dislike, or distrust of the human species, human behavior, or human nature. A misanthrope or misanthropist is someone who holds such views or feelings.:kingtut:

Let's look at your behavior and see if the word was used incorrectly. Several individuals express concern for their beloved animals because of the fireworks. You respond with a taunting, "I LOVE fireworks!!!!" with not one, not two, not three, but four exclamation points and a jeering emoji.

Our host shows genuine pain and heartbreak from the wanton paving of Paradise and your response is a poisonous, "I LOVE Cement," this time without the exclamation points but still with a scoffing emoji.

If not a misanthrope, then what do you call yourself, Sir? A bully who delights in rubbing salt into someone's wounds? A bitter individual who wants others to be as miserable as they are? Or just someone filled with hatred toward anyone who doesn't see the world as they see it? Personally, I would really like to know because I can simply not understand what motivates someone like you.

Time Magazine has their Person of the Year award. For the year 2000, they wanted to name a Person of the Century. Time set this criteria and asked their readers to submit their choice of the Person of the Century:

Name the person who for better or for worse ... has done the most to influence the events of the 20th Century.

The quickly realized that they had worded their criteria very badly. The top two vote getters were Adolf Hitler and Mahatma Gandhi. In the end, Time punted and named Albert Einstein as he, "represented ... the ... century the most." Personally, I thought the voters nailed it. These two people were indeed the two individuals who had the strongest influence on the events for the 20th Century. Hitler was almost personally responsible for causing the deaths of some 70 million people. Gandhi was almost personally responsible for preventing the deaths of possibly 70 million or more people. The Sinner and the Saint. I think I understand what motivates the Saint in all of us. I can not for the life of me understand what motivates the Sinner in all of us. The thought of intentionally inflicting harm to another repulses me.

So, Mr. Midalake, what motivates you? Why are you so much like a misanthrope or whatever you would call yourself?

Nice, lots of words that mean nothing. Sounds like an apology or an apologist.

You like words? Me too. So, what is it going to be tribalist? Are you going to keep speaking when not spoken to? Or is "victorio" another sign-on name for you?

Tribalism> Tribalism is the state of being organized by, or advocating for, tribes or tribal lifestyles.

PS> I LOVE fireworks!

Not an apology. Just curious as to what your motivations are. I was trying to be polite. Maybe I should have just asked you, "Why are you such an a**hole?"

You like words? Me too. So, what is it going to be tribalist? Are you going to keep speaking when not spoken to? Or is "victorio" another sign-on name for you?
Tribalism> Tribalism is the state of being organized by, or advocating for, tribes or tribal lifestyles.

It seems I must have missed the memo. I don't remember any rules on this forum that said that one must speak only when spoken to by someone with the authority to grant them that privilege. My guess is that if there were such a rule, you, of all people, would be the last person to have that authority.

It appears that you are labeling me a tribalist, yes? I disagree with this assertion. You are way off the mark, in my humble opinion. On the contrary, my belief is that if we are to survive as a species, we must all think and act globally. There is only one world and we must learn to share it fairly. Before you throw another label at me such as "Communist," please know that I am a Stockbroker. I am heavily invested in and a great proponent of capitalism. But nothing we humans have ever created is perfect. Capitalism might just be the worst economic system ever devised by humanity ... except for all the others. We must somehow address the savage inequalities that have come about from our current implementation of global capitalism. That ain't gonna' be easy.

And I have no idea who "victorio" is or was on this forum.

PS> I LOVE fireworks!

I also love fireworks. However, when friends lament the fact that their beloved pets are quite alarmed and distressed when the local firework displays are in operation, I have the common decency to keep my mouth shut. Wait! That might just be the answer! You may be missing the genes to encode decency. If that is the case, in the States, you could petition to be disabled under the Americans with Disabilities Act. The current makeup of the U.S. Supreme Court would be more than happy to give misanthropes like you accommodations to continue to be jerks in the public arena because of your disability. "See? He can't help it. We must accommodate his disability and praise his cruelty." Why didn't I think of this before?

I was trying to be n=nice too. So now it is just Tribalist A$$hole. B-)

PS It is a serious issue, speaking when not spoken to. It has been endemic in society as of late. You should get help if you think it does not pertain to you.

Victorio started this thread asking why fireworks should have been used right next to an animal shelter. Seems like a valid concern, considering. Then you came along with your "I LOVE fireworks" post, apparently showing your complete disregard for animal welfare in general. I thought it was intentionally provocative and juvenile, and you deserve all the criticism you're getting.

The picture is becoming clearer. To the list of your missing genes we can add the genes to encode empathy. Your dog loved loud noises so who cares if anyone else's animals are distressed by the fireworks? Those animals and their owners are simply weak losers. You are strong and a winner.

I think Dave may be having a little sport with us. And whatever his faults, they really seem minor in the grand scheme of things.
