I'm extremely saddened to report the passing of Gringo Viejo aka Dwight McCarty who simply passed away in his sleep a couple of days ago. Dwight contributed a lot of wonderful anecdotes here about his life here, including in La Barra de Potosí and when he built his home in Buenavista just south of Troncones until he couldn't see anymore. He served in the U.S. Air Force for over 20 years, and started out as a tailgunner on B-52s in Vietnam. He was well liked by people who knew him, and he will be missed. QEPD.

The number of visitantes extranjeros has decreased noticeably in Zihuatanejo. The downtown waterfront restaurant that are usually full with foreigners are now mostly empty. There has always been an exodus of winter vacationers just before Semana Santa, and next Sunday the Semana Santa vacation period begins, though with the current teachers' strike apparently it's already begun for too many unfortunate students.

The air was warm and humid today. I can smell and feel the humidity, and it is delicious! We usually see changes in the weather just in time for Semana Santa. Hopefully this year the ocean will remain calm and we won't see any marea roja or mar de fondo.

Otro día hermoso en nuestro paraíso. Una de las pangas tiene mal escrita el nombre de nuestro pueblo, Zihuatanejo. :facewithhandovermouth:
