We noticed a different class of tourists out strolling and returning from Playa Las Gatas this evening. As predicted, the second week of vacations known as Semana de Pascua usually brings us more middle- and upper-class tourists whom we hope will do some shopping and partake of local services while they're here.

Speaking of shopping, our daughter went to get a few items today at Soriana, and she said the place was full of foreigners, almost no Mexicans were there. About the only place anyone's seen any visitantes extranjeros lately.

While Acapulco is trying to come back to life, the damage there continues to be quite extensive, and many lodgings and businesses have not been able to reopen, if they ever will. So in the meantime, Zihuatanejo-Ixtapa is currently Guerrero's main functional tourist destination.

Pangas de los pescadores durante el amanecer en Playa Principal en la bahía de Zihuatanejo. Muchos acaban de llegar con sus hieleros llenos del producto de sus labores nocturnos.

Soriana has moved to self checkout. At 8:30 only three cashiers were open. More cashiers can be laid as well the baggers. Oh right; they work for tips.
