A shame the triatlón athletic event that occurred this Saturday in Ixtapa wasn't better publicized. I would've loved to have been able to inform folks about it, but details were impossible to find in time.

Semana Santa officially ends this weekend, and children are expected to be in school this Monday morning. While beaches were busy today, town is already thinning out as folks start making their way back home.

Sad to read about a California surfer, Dominic Fanelli, who drowned at Playa La Saladita today. My sympathies to his family and friends.

Each Saturday evening there's an art exhibition in Plaza del Artista, often accompanied by some mellow and enjoyable music. This Saturday evening was no exception. A wonderful atmosphere for artists, bohemians and families to mingle and enjoy some of our culture.

The ocean continues quite cool at around 24-to-25°C in Zihuatanejo's bay, though watching our visitors enjoying themselves swimming, floating and playing in the water you'd never know it was considered too frigid by locals. The air temp in the morning and evening is also refreshingly cool, around 18°C in the early morning, and around 24°C in the evening after the sun goes down with a bit of a wind coming down from the hills.

[image]A lovely lodging away from the crowds with the beach out your front door and where the night sky can still be appreciated is Villas Troncones on Troncones Beach. Ten villas featuring from 1 to 5 bedrooms surrounding a pool. All villas have ceiling fans, A/C and kitchens. Meals are available prepared on property. Located within easy walking distance of other restaurants, convenience stores and the village.

I did go there for much of the event and it is a shame that more info isn't available but I expect that will change as they host more events. This particular event had a lot of things going on simultaneously as it was a shorter version of a longer Triathlon plus there was the duathlon and aquatic one so lot to keep you interested. Everything started at the first entrance to the playa by the Barcelo the cycling and running were short loops and as one age group category was finishing another had started and so on. I hope this event and the softball tournament held in March returns.

The softball tournament was brought here as a result of the Hurricane damage in Acapulco but hopefully it returns next year.

Very sad to read of the drowning. Saladita is typically a pretty mellow break. I wonder if the surf was bigger and he may have possibly been pushed down the beach? More info could be helpful to others surfing that area to avoid any further loss of life.

Definitely wishing strength to his friends and family.
