Of course, the arrival of a cruise ship in the bay was the biggest event in Zihuatanejo this Friday. It was reported that most of the passengers who disembarked took no tours but instead roamed around and explored downtown Zihuatanejo. I sure hope they liked what they found here and that many of them will return to vacation here. We had some sales as did other friends of ours, so we can't complain.

Well, though I have it listed because the local government announced it months back, I'm doubtful the cruise ship SH Diana will actually put into port this Saturday, though it is currently cruising past Manzanillo at the moment I write this. Maybe it'll surprise us. If not, it won't be the first time.

The danzón dancing in Plaza del Artista Friday evenings is one of my favorite repeating albeit informal cultural events. Most of the participants are what you'd call Zihuatanejo old-timers. Danzón was popular here when my wife was still a young lady, and her parents would dance it often. Lupita has the moves down pat, while I'm too much of a free-styler to ever attempt any serious danzón. But it's a lot of fun. Come join in next Friday.

This Saturday be sure not to miss the Eco-Tianguis Sanka in the plaza in front of the Vicente Guerrero school, across the street from the museum. They always have interesting music and events as well as all the foods, drinks and goods produced by LOCALS.

This Friday was a bit warmer than it has been recently. Ocean fog greeted early risers. But our weather remains absolutely picture-postcard-perfect, and visitors certainly are getting their money's worth!

[image]Tucked away in a lovely gardened property less than a block from the beach at Playa La Ropa is another one of our hidden jewels with a French flair named Casa Iguana. Six luxurious bungalow suites with A/C, cable TV, Internet connection, kitchenettes, and garden terraces with living and dining areas. An absolutely perfect place for relaxing and losing track of time.

Yep, no cruise ship this morning. We thought so when the temporary tents with artesanian crafts were taken down last night.
