Unfortunately, crocodile hysteria has returned. Oh, and the child who was bitten and his parents are from here. Not tourists. Besides the signs warning of the presence of crocodiles at Playa Linda, they simply should've known not to swim there, especially during crocodile mating and nesting season. At least he and his parents will recover. The best situation would be if they spoke out in defense of the crocodiles and admitted their error, but not holding my breath awaiting anything so noble.

The water continues COLD along our coast, between 22 and 23.5°C in the bay, but fishermen have commented to me that it's warming up farther out at sea. So far the marea roja hasn't been a problem. It hasn't massed together, and we haven't seen any dead fish from it. The current mar de fondo effect should help disperse the marea roja, so that's what we're hoping for.

Political campaigns are starting to get into swing for the elections on June 2, so for those of you who are here, expect some noise and inconvenience as things ratchet up between now and then and the candidates and their supporters take to the streets and plazas.

There's been some sea fog along our coast in the mornings. While it's pretty to some, it can be dangerous for our fishermen who may lose sight of the coast and the natural landmarks they use for navigating.
