Not so much fog this Friday morning, though it was still visible on the horizon right after sunrise. We enjoyed a mild day here in Zihuatanejo, but in the sierra the temps were again around 40°C. The burning of tlacolols should soon become more noticeable as the rainy season nears and farmers prepare to plant maíz, frijól and calabasa.

The danzón dancers are having a wonderful time in Plaza del Artista outside my window as I write this, and every Friday beginning right around sunset. There are quite a few dancers tonight, including folks just stopping by and getting swept up in the spirit of the dance music, which is what it's all about.

The crocodile hysteria continues by people wondering why they're seeing so many crocs lately, but they aren't actually seeing them, they're only seeing photos posted on social media.

It looks like we're going to receive quite a few tourists this weekend. Acapulco is still out of business from Otis in large part, and more chilangos are once again coming to Zihuatanejo along with other folks who would normally be visiting Acapulco. Every little bit helps! The downtown beach was crowded this Friday well into the evening, and folks were enjoying swimming without any hysteria whatsoever!

[image]El Refugio de Potosí is a center for wildlife conservation and environmental education. Among its attractions, it features a fully reconstructed sperm whale skeleton (the only one in Mexico), an observation tower, a wheelchair accessible footpath for observing local flora and fauna, and a butterfly pavilion. Located near the beach on the road to Barra de Potosí. Perfect for the entire family.

Frente a Casa Marina es ahora el único lugar con sombra en todo el Paseo del Pescador después de la dizque remodelación por parte del gobierno municipal actual. Este lugar ha sido un lugar favorito para reunirse por generaciones.
