An offshore breeze kept our coast free from the smokiness and brought mild temps from the relatively cool ocean temp that fluctuated between 24.2°C and 26.2°C in Zihuatanejo Bay this Saturday. But nights are getting noticeably warmer and more humid, slowly but surely. Almost too warm to sleep under a sheet. I wonder if we'll have to wait until June 1st for our first rain of the season.

We received a decent turnout of tourists this weekend. Seeing a lot of license plates from Guanajuato. Large family gatherings on Playa Principal. Water taxis arriving after sunset overloaded with contented beachgoers anxious for a shower. Lots of smiling happy faces everywhere of people who are simply glad to be here, albeit briefly.

There was another wonderful display of folkloric dancing this Saturday evening at the Cancha, to one side of the Huertita de Jorgito. A shame our shortsighted greedy mayors didn't leave the small amphitheater there with its built-in seating where it was perfectly situated and extremely useful.

Don't forget that this Wednesday, May 1st, there will be a parade downtown at 9:30 a.m. And at 3:00 p.m. that same day the person most likely to be our next president, Claudia Sheinbaum, will be here at the Unidad Deportiva. Expect to see a lot of politicking!

Imagine waking up here in the mornings, at one of the bungalows at Casa Ki on the beach in Troncones, a peaceful remote tropical village on the warm and friendly southern coast of Mexico: a place where natural beauty still rules and times seems to slow down and stretch out at the same time.
