Numero Siete of the Marionette Sonnets
To recap, the sonnets are inspired by marionettes on my balcony, Mexican mythology/history and the story of Pinocchio. They follow the Shakespeare form except for the fourth verse which is where Pinocchio comes in (“Be brave, be truthful and unselfish and you will be a real boy.”).
Amarillo suit with a Jaguar mask
Jaguar was the symbol of royalty
Jaguars are Kings and Queens, their time not passed
The Jaguar means magic and sorcery
Royalty abolished by Constitution
The Jaguar’s coats are beautiful rosette
Though Jaguars hunted close to extinction
El Sol becomes a Jaguar at sunset
Be brave
Be beautiful
Be bountiful
And you will be a real Jaguar
We are quite old, not beginners by far
But have time to find our inner Jaguar
