¡Viva la DemocraZIHa!
Today was a proud day for Mexico thanks to all the citizens who participate to receive and count our votes. My heartfelt thanks to all the poll workers in Zihuatanejo and throughout the República. You make us all so proud! Excellent job!
It's still too early to tell who won any of the elections, so I won't speculate here. Nationwide it appears turnout was around 60%. You can find the preliminary results for Zihuatanejo's elections here: https://www.prepguerrero.mx/ayuntamientos/municipios/39
I was surprised by how many out-of-towners were waiting to vote at the special casilla at the museum this morning. At 7:00 A.M. there was already a line over halfway around the block before the polls opened at 8:00 A.M.
Still no rain in our local forecast. Today was another absolutely picture-postcard-perfect sunny day. There have been some waves in Zihuatanejo Bay but not big enough to keep people from enjoying themselves. First thing this morning while walking my dog I had to laugh at a small group of women and girls playing in the breakers, and just like when I first came here 50 years ago, all of them were clothed, none were wearing swimsuits. All laughing and having a wonderful time in the ocean.
An excellent way to enjoy our coastal region is from the ocean with its majestic views of the mountains. For your adventure on our local waters I highly recommend the services of Zihuatanejo Ixtapa Charters. They have vessels for all occasions. Take your pick and enjoy an unforgettable day in our paradise.

Mis vecinos y yo votamos tempranito en la mañana en la casilla de Casa Marina. Todo pasó tranquilo y sin contratiempos.

And congratulations to Mexico for getting out to vote in what I hear are record numbers, electing the first female president in the history of Mexico. Good on yah!!
As its only 545 in Z I suspect many of you have not heard yet.
Claudia Sheinbaum takes the presidency and Edmonton Elks take the western final and proceed to the Stanley Cup, all in all a pretty good day.

Do you think the Edmonton Oilers will make it to the Grey Cup this year?
