Happy International LGBTQ Pride Day!
My how time flies when you're having fun! This will be the last weekend of June, and it seems like it was just getting warmed up. The hills are barely turning green. I don't think I recall the rains ever starting so late in the season. Usually by now our hills are a solid green and have been for weeks and our rivers are running full, but not this year.
Two more weeks until schools officially let out and the summer vacation season gets underway. We saw more tourists on our downtown beach today than yesterday.
At the moment folks are enjoying our traditional danzón music and dancing in Plaza del Artista. Always a lovely way to spend early Friday evening.
A shark was seen feeding near the shoreline in Troncones yesterday. There's a video of it circulating on Facebook. A reminder to pay attention to your surroundings in the ocean, and to avoid swimming among schools of baitfish, especially at this time of year when sharks are attracted closer to shore by what washes out from our lagoons and rivers from the rains.
July 1st is almost here! Be present next Monday morning at Deborah's Restaurant in Ixtapa to watch history made as Project Equator comes to its climax. Please tell your friends, and if you know any news media types, spread the word to them, too. This will only happen once.
If you're looking for a truly relaxing B&B lodging overlooking the jungle in La Ropa, I highly recommend Casa Arcoíris. The view of the sunset over the treetops from their pool is breathtaking, and the peace and quiet will relieve you of any stress. Five comfortable suites with air conditioning, TV, and wi-fi access at this LGBTQ-friendly lodging make it somewhat exclusive and definitely enchanting. Mention ZihuaRob's and get a discount.

Gente nadando, caminando y haciendo ejercicio al amanecer en Playa La Madera en la bahía de Zihuatanejo. Una manera excelente para empezar el día.

Was swimming in La Madera late afternoon Tuesday/Wednesday and ran across some tiny fish (probably sardines) who jumped out of the water, over my body and kept on going towards shore. Makes me want to wear my snorkel mask to see who's chasing them!

You should wear swimming goggles.

Yep - too entertaining below the surface to miss out on it just because I'm swimming!

We swim with goggles, and off of la Ropa there have been quite a few small fish hugging the bottom. Goggles are the best!!!

Wore my snorkel mask yesterday, but NO fish! None! And just green water to see. That was La Madera out past the surf line. Luckily for me, we live here year-round, so I'm sure I'll see something sometime!

We are here year around too, and do our swimming outside the surfline on la Ropa.
