¿Hurricane names?
Hi all,
I was wondering as to why there are three hurricanes in the pacific with names Hone, Gilma and Hector. Is Hone even a name?
I thought they went in alphabetical order, so not sure as to why there are two starting with "H."
Any ideas?

Hone didn't form up in the East Pacific but rather the Central Pacific, so it got named according to Central Pacific naming rules. The other storms were born in the Eastern Pacific where they received their names.

Hone is both a surname and a given name or nickname. As a given name, it is common in New Zealand; "Hone" (also spelt "Hōne"
is the Māori transliteration of the name John.

I once knew a woman from New Zealand whose name was something like “Kayserah”.
She explained that she was an unplanned pregnancy and her parents thought, “Que sera” so they turned it into a name.
