The same enormous storm system that sparked Hurricane Francine in the Gulf of Mexico has also given birth to a storm system along the coast of Guerrero that is likely to become a hurricane, and it's forming up and growing at this moment over Zihuatanejo. We awoke to ominous skies in Zihuatanejo this Tuesday morning, and around noon the wind started up in earnest with brief sprinkles of rain. There will likely be some wind damage around our region from the strong wind gusts. But for all their posturing, the storm clouds today have yet to bring us any real precipitation in Zihuatanejo, though heavy rains remain in the local forecast for the next several days. In other parts of the Costa Grande they're already dealing with flooding. But hey, all the local rivers are full and flowing again.

Still no visitors around to speak of. No one on the downtown beach today except a few locals taking their morning constitutional. Apparently everyone's holding their breath expecting that the local tourism offices are promoting Zihuatanejo. I've seen no signs of any promotion other than some gimmicky photos of the latest ecocide at La Ropa. I've lived in tourist destinations most of my life, and I have yet to meet anyone who visits a place because of the cement poured by its local politicians.

Trump's embarrassing performance, bizarre as it was, was pure Trump.
It may sway a few of the 20% of the population that, for some strange reason, were "undecided"....but anyone with eyes and ears who, after 7+ years of watching this trainwreck, are still "undecided" are already lost. The 40% that support the dangerous narcissist - like our banned Trump lapdog - now, unbelievably, blame ABC. The rest of US voters, who've always recognized a snake oil salesman when they see one, have, once again, been vindicated.

It is unlikely that the United States will just fade away. It is simply too big and powerful. The questions are: Will there be violence? Will the Republic survive? Agent Orange will most certainly lose the popular vote, just as he did in 2016 and 2020. However, he still could win the Electoral College as he did in 2016 and we will be subjected to four more dangerous and insane years. If he does lose the Electoral College and hence, the election, there is no doubt in my mind that there will be wholesale bloodshed. Let's hope it is brief and dealt with quickly. Although there are many in the military that support the Orange One, it is difficult to believe that they would go so far as to deny their oath to the Constitution and the United States Republic in sufficient numbers to allow the rise of the Diapered Dictator.

We have seen that 250 number of years of empire bandied about. Yet some empires have lasted much longer. Personally, I believe the United States has many great years ahead ... assuming we survive Agent Orange and his MAGA cult. Germany survived their madness but not without unimaginable death and horror. Let's have hope and please, vote carefully, fellow UnitedStaters!

Taylor probably won't change many minds - pretty much everyone's opinion is set in stone. But she'll boost turnout considerably, especially among young people - most especially young women - who traditionally sit out elections. Her endorsement maybe moves the needle a fraction of 1%, but she'll boost turnout by 2% or 3%, all of them Swifties for Harris. Trump is rightly scared to death of her.
