¡Celebrando la IndependenZIHa!
The tourism expected this weekend has yet to show up. There are far fewer visitors than the tourism eggheads predicted would show up. Ixtapa's hotels were only at about 50% occupancy this Saturday, and Zihuatanejo's much less. Oops.
This Saturday was an exceptionally lovely day. Painted skies at dawn and sunset, and plenty of sunshine during the day. There are some small waves rolling into Zihuatanejo's bay, but they didn't seem to bother the beachgoers, many who were playing in the surf.
For those of you who want to enjoy El Grito de Dolores, the mayor will give his version at the Palacio Municipal this Sunday evening around 10:00 P.M. No cover charge. The party starts at 7:30, and there will be live music, food and drink. There's an 80% possibility of rain for Sunday evening.
A place I really like to recommend, like an oasis in paradise, is Casa Tucanes. A beautiful vacation lodging located on the edge of La Ropa's coconut grove surrounded by lush gardens, a short walking distance to the beach. They offer three 1- and 2-bedroom villas, two 2-bedroom bungalows and two simple guest rooms. They also have a pool, they are pet friendly and wonderful hosts.
