If you're going to El Grito this Sunday night at the ayuntamiento, I recommend taking a taxi because parking is difficult there. If you're going out partying, I recommend staying close to home to avoid inebriated drivers. It's a good idea to be under a solid roof after El Grito in case there's a lot of gunfire, as there usually is every year, and which has caused victims.

Otherwise, you can watch on TV or YouTube when Presidente Andrés Manuel López Obrador gives his very last Grito from the Palacio Federal at the Zócalo in Mexico City. There will be lots of music leading up to the event along with a good measure of pomp and circumstance, with the Grito taking place at 11PM.

According to the state gov't's cifras alegres, the tourists finally showed up! Hotels in Zihuatanejo are over 60% occupancy and in Ixtapa over 70%. We even had a decent day in sales. Who got screwed over are the folks who sell their food and wares in the street downtown near the Cancha Municipal because of the construction of the parade viewing stand for the mayor and VIPs. Two evenings' worth of valuable sales totally lost during a much anticipated long weekend that has to tide all of us over for the next couple of months while there is almost no tourism. How selfish and inconsiderate of our mayor. He could've allowed them to set up in the zócalo.
