We awoke to a lovely RAIN this morning in Zihuatanejo accompanied by a fair amount of wind. It made the morning quite cool and refreshing for those of us who live here. I sure hope it wasn't our last rain. We may get some more rain from Onda Tropical #30 expected to roll through here this weekend. Keeping fingers crossed.
Last night's THIRD earthquake was a 4.6 located with the rest just off the coast of Papanoa. This Friday morning at 10:56 A.M. Zihuatanejo had another quake, a 4.1, whose epicenter was in El Posquelite. No damages to report from any of the temblores. The series of quakes in relatively quick succession is worrisome, so we should all remain on alert for more in the region.
While many people and visitors are celebrating this Friday, November first, as part of the Día de Muertos celebrations, it's actually one of the saddest days for those of us for whom it has traditional significance as we remember our loved ones who died as children. Their loss is the most painful for the promise of the lives they never got to live.
This Friday is also Day 3 of kids dressing up and jalowineandob in Zihuatanejo. One more to go.
This Saturday morning Lupita and I along with hundreds of other local families will visit the grave sites of our beloved family members and adorn them with flowers. It's a very emotional time for most people, so please excuse those of us who aren't in a celebratory mood. Visitors are welcome to visit our local cemeteries, but please be respectful.
If anyone can make a small donation to help pay for the medical bills of our dear friend's lovely granddaughter, Brisa, your help will be greatly appreciated. See details here: Please Help A Friend in Need
Be sure to come to the EcoTianguis Sanka this Saturday morning from 9 to 1:30 across the street from the museum in the plaza in front of the Vicente Guerrero school. There are always delicious food and drinks and wonderful arts and crafts.
One of our region's truly lovely vacation lodgings is Casa La Paloma, a place that will take your breath away and leave you wanting to stay longer than you planned. This beachfront vacation home is located on a quiet, sandy stretch of Playa Troncones. Sleeping capacity is 12 in 6 bedrooms. Enjoy the poolside bar and large gourmet kitchen, as well as the oceanfront palapas with hammocks and lounge chairs. Peaceful and relaxing.
