Residents and visitors in Zihuatanejo and the rest of the Costa Grande of Guerrero enjoyed another warm, humid day perfect for the beach. The downtown beach was certainly busy since early in the morning, and the water taxis were still returning from Las Gatas well after sundown. There was a huge turnout for the Concurso de las Catrinas at the Cancha Municipal. I even saw Talley Ho and her media naranja among the crowd enjoying themselves. Looking' good, guys!

More and more Gringos and Canadians are in town. Amazing how so many of them adapt so quickly and essentially blend right in here. I didn't see anyone that looked out of place. Even in Florida you often see tourists that look like they picked the wrong destination, like seeing folks in Holmes Beach dressed for Palm Beach. We get a lot of city folk here that look the same in all tourist destinations, folks not used to wearing shorts and sandals, for example, and it shows. But it's always fun to watch the families, especially children, when they see the beach for the first time, or coming back from the beach all tanned and smiling, totally relaxed. That's what Zihuatanejo, Ixtapa, Barra de Potosí and Troncones are all about!

We only watched about a half hour or so of the parade last Saturday night. It went awfully slow. In that half an hour only about 4 floats with groups of dancers went by. The costumes were great, but with the heat we could tell the dancers were tired after the walk from Plaza Kioto. As usual, the noise was excessive, and even shut in with the A/C on and the TV turned up, there were times when it was quite loud. I wish the municipal government cared more about not causing hearing damage, especially to children.

Looking forward to a quiet week with nothing happening.
