Although it may indeed be illegal, we had great success using notaries on line for a bunch of things we needed. Google them, we paid $20 US each, easy and immediate. Both Oregon and California accepted them with no questions.

I would not want to use the services of a legal authority who would do something that they and I both know “may indeed be illegal”.

This is the kind of thing that can haunt a person for years, wondering whether they will be caught and whatever the process was that required the legal action is potentially rendered void.

Imagine having the probate of a will undone, or the sale/purchase of real estate undone.
