¡Feliz Día de los Músicos!

This Friday was warm and humid right from sunup. A day for seeking shade and staying hydrated. The ocean water temperature of 29.3°C doesn't offer much relief from the heat, but it helps top get wet and then hope for a little breeze in the shade. Storm clouds were in the area today, and there's a slight chance of rain tonight and tomorrow. All we can do is hope.

I was saddened this morning when I arrived to the beach and saw that a turtle's nest had hatched overnight, and I found one poor little hatching on its back, barely moving, so I put it at the water's edge where it got washed into the sea, but I don't think it made it. I saw tracks heading in every direction instead of simply to the ocean, thanks to the EXCESSIVE and BRIGHT LIGHTS along the waterfront that disorient both nesting sea turtles as well as hatchlings, in stark contradiction of the city's claim to be environmentally friendly. I looked around for more hatchlings, but I didn't see any. Hopefully other passersby helped them find the water.

Slowly but surely the number of extranjeros in town continues increasing. They were noticeable strolling the downtown streets during the day and at several waterfront restaurants and bars this evening. ¡Bienvenidos de regreso!
