Trump vows to impose 25% tariff on goods from Mexico and Can

The move, Trump said, will be in retaliation for illegal immigration and “crime and drugs” coming across the border.

“On January 20th, as one of my many first Executive Orders, I will sign all necessary documents to charge Mexico and Canada a 25% Tariff on ALL products coming into the United States, and its ridiculous Open Borders,” Trump posted on his Truth Social platform. “This Tariff will remain in effect until such time as Drugs, in particular Fentanyl, and all Illegal Aliens stop this Invasion of our Country!”

In other words, “l am incompetent at controlling the US border, so I will punish Americans by increasing the prices of what they buy, until leaders who are more capable than I am do something I am incompetent at doing.”

I have two “aside” comments.

This is to apply to “ALL products” coming into the United States.

1. I wonder how Trump intends to put a 25% tariff on fentanyl coming into the US.

2. I wonder what the Canadian Trump promoters in oil-producing Alberta and auto industry Ontario think about 25% tariffs.
