I understand that I can get to Barra de Potosi from El Centro either by bus or by combi. Both require a transfer. Can I get a bit more details? Thank you so much!

You can take the combi to the airport. They will let you off just outside the parking lot on a corner with a small restaurant. Twenty paces to your right on that same corner is the combi that will take you to Barra de Potosi.
The other method is to take the autobus going south towards Petatlan. Tell the driver that you want to get off at Los Achotes. You will be dropped off in glorious downtown Los Achotes. At this corner, you will turn to your right and look for the combi heading towards Barra de Potosi. This combi will be a pickup truck with a canopy in the back for passengers. Don't be surprised if some of your fellow passengers are not homo sapiens. This trip is highly recommended at least once as it takes you past some beautiful rural fields and pastures.

Thank you so much for the info. I love the idea of riding in the back a truck with goats & chickens!

About 20 years ago we did a similar trip to Trocones and back using a bus and combi. Wife said no more, locals also take taxis. We always try to go to La Barra de Potosi on a weekday to avoid the crowds last June we had the entire enramada to ourselves. One of our favorite places to have lunch is Enramada Sylva, better come hungry.

Perfect. Thank you, ZR.
By the way, when I pay the combi driver, does that include the transfer to Barra de Potosi at the airport?

Perfect. Thank you, ZR.
By the way, when I pay the combi driver, does that include the transfer to Barra de Potosi at the airport?
No, it does not include a transfer. However, the fares are extremely low. It is a good idea to carry as many peso coins or MXN$20 or MXN$50 pesos bills as you can. It is a bad idea to hand the driver a MXN$500 or even a MXN$200 pesos bill. (MXN$100 pesos bills are not uncommon but not ideal.) I have never seen anyone try to use a US or Canadian dollar or any other currency. I don't believe it would go over well.
An added perk of using the combis is the opportunity for potentially practicing your Spanish. Part of combi culture in Zihua is to greet your fellow passengers with a "Buenos dias," "Buenas tardes," or "Buenas noches" when climbing aboard. Likewise, a salulation is done when leaving. It leaves open the ability to strike up a conversation and practice Spanish.

Padrino, I couldn't agree more. My wife & I have been traveling to Mexico for years. I only carry small denomination peso currency & coins.
As far as courtesy protocol is concerned, when traveling outside of the U.S. it is tantamount to being in someone else's home. Thus, respect for the people & the culture is a top priority for me. And part of that respect is communicating in the host language as best as possible. As far as communicating in Spanish is concerned, my wife is of Mexican heritage & speaks the language fluently. As for me, I know enough of the language to communicate reasonably well when speaking English is not an option.
Again, you offer sage advice to travelers.

Thank you for the info. I assume that Pedro is neither associated with a combi nor a bus?

No, he drives his own cab. He has 2 little kids that need support, and one of them needs regular medical care in Morelia.
