Wednesday morning we awoke to cloudy skies in Zihuatanejo. It looked like it could've rained, and it might have somewhere else. It made for a humid and warm morning, a change from the cloudless skies we've had most days. Once the clouds passed we enjoyed a nice offshore breeze that made anyplace with shade a comfortable place to be.

A slow sales day for most downtown shops due to a lack of visitors, but our boutique enjoyed quite a few sales to visiting extranjeros for which we are extremely grateful. ¡Muchísimas gracias!

While there were a few skyrockets fired downtown this evening, most of the noise and action was at the church known as the Angelus at Plaza Kioto. A bit of a betrayal to Zihuatanejo's original church named in honor of Guadalupe, but a welcome respite from all the explosions for downtown residents.

There were hardly people along the waterfront this evening in spite of a basketball game at La Cancha and good music at Daniel's Restaurant. When we walked to the pier this evening a flotilla of boats from Isla Ixtapa carrying their image of Guadalupe had just entered the bay, and we watched with friends at the pier while they motored around the bay past the beaches from Las Gatas to Playa Principal before arriving and disembarking at the pier to get their image of Guadalupe blessed and later put it in the small niche in front of the offices of the Capitanía del Puerto at the pier. A lovely annual local tradition.

Banks and schools will be closed this Thursday, December 12, as Día de Guadalupe is an official holiday.

[image]Tucked away in a lovely gardened property less than a block from the beach at Playa La Ropa is another one of our hidden jewels with a French flair named Casa Iguana. Six luxurious bungalow suites with A/C, cable TV, Internet connection, kitchenettes, and garden terraces with living and dining areas. An absolutely perfect place for relaxing and losing track of time.
