The hits keep coming. We awoke to a beautiful painted sky on a refreshing Sunday morning. By 8 o'clock the sun was burning through the last of the morning mist, and it was bright and hot with a hint of a breeze. But our temps remain mild, and we think we have the best weather in all of Mexico. Lucky us.
In case any of you have tickets on Mexicana airline, they announced today an immediate cancellation of their services to Zihuatanejo from CDMX. You can get a refund via the info on their website: https://mexicanalink.mx/ Bummer.
A current local joke is that the local Oxxo stores benefitted more than any other local business from our Christmas vacation visitors. It's almost not even a joke.
Many local merchants enjoyed a good deal of sales during the Christmas holidays after a very slow and late start, but they had to work extremely hard just to barely come out ahead. It makes us all appreciate much more the foreigners from Canada and the USA who tend to spend considerably more per capita on purchases than our national visitors. ¡Gracias!

I wasn't aware Mexicana were still in business. Hope that's not a misprint: we're booked on Aeromexico ZIH - CDMX return in February.

It's not the same company.

Yes, I'm aware of that. Your link opens to the "old", bankrupt Mexicana, with a link to the resurrected Mexicana. I'm guessing that discontinuing flights between ZIH and CDMX doesn't bode well.

Not the problem. The problem is Mexicana only OWNS 2 planes and were renting another 3 from TAR. With the end of the Xmas season vacation, they stopped renting the 50-seater planes to reassess the market while they are expecting delivery of new planes soon from Brazil.
