Cement first
That beautiful volcanic rock is mostly buried under the boulders the ex-mayor buried the coastline with. A shame so much of Zihuatanejo's natural beauty has been lost to the ex-mayor's cement. And he's not done. His wife, the current mayor, sadly appears to be continuing the same process.
Not only can cement be used to cover over the beauty of nature, the production of cement is a major contributor to the global warming that will adversely affect so many of the places we enjoy, like the Pacific Coast of Mexico.
Cement’s Massive Carbon Problem
Making one kilogram of cement sends one kilogram of CO2 into the atmosphere. Worldwide every year cement and concrete production generates as much as 9 percent of all human CO2 emissions.
How many of us think we want the best for our children and grandchildren while our actions betray our thoughts?
