What a pleasure and a privilege to wake up in this beautiful paradise, especially with the love of my life beside me, except by the time I awaken, she's usually already up and dressed and has the plants watered, the coffee ready and our dog ready for me to take out for his morning walk. Lupita is a force of nature who takes after her mother, a strong-willed and very principled woman with a heart of gold. Every day with her is the absolute best day of my life! Since our very first date she's always made me feel like the luckiest Gringo in Mexico!

We'd intended to celebrate Friday evening with a dinner at La Porteña, but there wasn't a table available, and we didn't feel like waiting. One of the nice things about being a local is we can go there during the slow season when no one is around and always get our favorite table. And one of the nice things about being deeply in love is Día de San Valentín is just another day for us.

Though there were young couples with flowers and gifts walking the streets and waterfront for much of the day and evening, there didn't appear to be many Mexican tourists around today, still mostly extranjeros who are very welcome and much appreciated here. Most of the downtown waterfront restaurants were busy this evening. Very good to see! I imagine it's the same on Calle Adelita and the beachfront in La Madera as well as in La Ropa. I hope the visitors in Ixtapa got out of their hotels and enjoyed the many delicious restaurants along the boulevard, at the marina and in the shopping areas.

Don't forget to visit the Eco-Tianguis "Sanka" this Saturday from 9AM to 1:30PM. Wonderful handmade crafts, homecooked food, delicious drinks, and so much more. And in La Ropa next to Casa Tucanes is "Las Iguanas Market" every Saturday and Sunday from 9AM to 3PM with local artisans and merchants and lots of sustainable products. And also at Las Iguanas Market from Feb. 15 until March 2 there will be an art exhibition featuring works by many popular regional artists. Good times and good vibes at both weekly events!

For a peaceful and stress-free vacation getaway take a look at Casa Delfín Sonriente. A spacious and verdant 6-bedroom private beachfront villa with a pool on Playa Troncones that can be rented in its entirety or as individual suites and bungalows by the day or by the week. There's an outdoor BBQ area and areas for various outdoor activities. Any closer to paradise would be hard to get.
