I understand that Carnaval will take place on March 14-16. Could someone please provide me with additional information (such as location of events)? Thank you so much.

I understand that Carnaval will take place on March 14-16. Could someone please provide me with additional information (such as location of events)? Thank you so much.
The only scheduled events so far are several musical groups at the Cancha Municipal and Las Salinas (the big field by the lagoon). I've added them to the Community Notices & Events page.

Most parades begin on Cinco de Mayo and go down Juan N. Álvarez towards Benito Juárez and then either towards the market or towards Plaza Kioto. No dates or details are available yet as far as I know.

Talking about parades....what was being celebrated last Sunday evening, 16 Feb? Streets were blocked off, everything being routed away from Plaza Kioto.
We had to walk many blocks to get a taxi. Someone said it was connected to SailFest, but I doubt locals have much interest or involvement in SailFest.

It's all about photo ops and marketing for the politician in charge and their political aspirations.

It's the way it has been done here for years. Spread out the events so more people come to visit. Tourism is king here.
