Las DeliZIHas del Mar
After a perfect night sleeping to a lullaby of small waves with a slightly cool breeze, it warmed up quickly in Zihuatanejo, and the sun was hot by 8 o'clock. Fishermen were a-hooting and a-hollering and speeding all over the bay in their pangas with their cast-nets because big fish were jumping. I could see the large splashes that kept kicking up in area after area all around the bay, but I never saw exactly what kind of fish it was. The marine birds were also eating well. The frigate birds were swooping and trying to pluck fish out of the air when they jumped. It was quite a scene!
Though there were quite a few folks at our local beaches, sales were terrible today for most merchants. Not really worth opening up shop for most. A darn shame, but it happens every year. This evening while we strolled the waterfront we noticed that the restaurant La Porteña was full, the bar was busy at Daniel's, and there were a few tables at Casa Arcadia. Things have really slowed down from just a couple of weeks ago.
This Wednesday evening at 7PM the Danzón dancers will be in Plaza del Artista. Come join in the fun or just watch and enjoy the style of dancing that's been popular here for generations but whose music never gets old.
One of the best reasons for visiting Ixtapa is to go to Deborah's Restaurant. Whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner, everything I've ever eaten there has been prepared to perfection and the service has always been excellent.
