First let me ask, hows the fishing for Dorado,sailfish and Marlin in early May? Could anyone recommend a fishing charter out of the Ixtapa marina or is it better to go out of Zih?

Also, which Island is best to visit when we are visiting?

Coming down for 3 weeks early next month.

No Dorado at the moment. Sailfish tournament is coming up first Saturday in May. They usually find quite a lot and a few Marlin, too.

I can highly recommend the fishing talents of my friend Ramón Olea and his panga Oleaje.

There's only one island in the region, Isla Ixtapa aka Isla Grande. It's a bit crowded with restaurants on the beaches, but you can still enjoy a nice time at the restaurant El Paraíso Escondido on the beach called Playa Varadero. There's some info about it on my BEACHES page.

Been fishing with Ramon for about 20 years, cannot go wrong with Ramon. Many times we just fish over to Isla Ixtapa for a few hours, take our catch to El Paraíso Escondido and enjoy some time on the beach before we leave. Also you may want to take a taxi over to La Barra de Potosi and hang at one of the enramadas there, we prefer Enramada Silvia.
