The mar de fondo showed up late Monday and continued throughout this Tuesday. The waves are expected to get even bigger within the next couple of days. A swimmer lost his life on Playa Blanca on Sunday. If you go swimming please be careful and always pay attention to the waves.

Happy Earth Day! A shame it wasn't celebrated or recognized more locally.

It appears momma whale and her calf have left the bay. I didn't see them today, and my captain friends didn't either. I hope they're safe and on their journey north.

While there seem to be less people here than last week, sales continue to be good for local merchants and businesses. Restaurants were doing good business along the downtown waterfront this evening, and there was a nice crowd enjoying and dancing to the excellent live music at the Cancha Municipal this evening. The presence of middle-class Mexican tourists is giving our economy the shot in the arm we so sorely need.

Our weather continues to be absolutely picture-postcard perfect! It got a bit warm today, up to around 31°C, but the breeze kept most folks comfortable, especially if they were in a hammock in the shade.

Fishermen continue bringing in decent-sized tuna in the evening, putting on quite a spectacle for our visitors as they weigh them and cart them off to their buyers at local markets and restaurants.

Don't forget to come enjoy the Danzón dancers this Wednesday evening in Plaza del Artista.
