The current heat wave keeps warming everything up, like a fever, and the next rain will again break the fever, so to speak, making the temperatures feel milder afterwards. This pattern will likely repeat itself until we get a tropical storm or something stronger. We usually get at least one hurricane before July, then a period of mostly clear skies and heat during La Canícula that usually lasts well into August. This is a rough time of year here, especially for newcomers. I wonder if any of you can even imagine living here without A/C or electricity, much less do it, as many folks my generation and older have done here. This is when a hammock is the most comfortable for sleeping for folks without the luxury of A/C.

There are two interesting musical events going on at the same time along the waterfront. A shame they couldn't have been scheduled at different times so that folks could enjoy both. The Orquesta Sinfónica de la Secretaria de la Marina is playing at the Cancha Municipal, and that's where most folks are. There's also an event with a folkloric group at the museum, but there didn't seem to be many people there. A shame because their music sounded pretty good, too.

Keep your fingers crossed for rain. The hills are bone dry, so dry that I fear many trees won't survive. Each year we lose too many, which is another reason I hate to see new developments cutting them down on the hillsides. We need every tree we can manage to save!

Remember, the Eco-Tianguis Sanka will be in the small plaza across from the museum this Saturday from 8:30 A.M. until 1:30 P.M. Come enjoy arts, crafts, good food and drinks, music, educational talks, and lots of good vibes and wonderful people.
