A few visitors showed up today in spite of all the bad weather forecasts that never came true. Local merchants hoped for the best, but settled for the few sales they were able to make.

The weather cooperated, and it was a spectacular day of tropical sunshine and balmy breezes. The predicted mar de fondo event didn't deter swimmers at Playa Principal, the waves weren't very big nor the currents very strong. Anyone visiting certainly got their money's worth of picture-postcard-perfect weather.

Early this Sunday morning at 6:30 a.m. there will be a swim event to cross the bay from Playa Las Gatas to Playa Principal, a distance of 1.8 km. An impressive swim. If you're up early get your binoculars out and enjoy it from your favorite vantage point with some fresh local coffee.

Remember that also this Sunday citizens will vote for new judges as part of the recent judicial reform, so there should be some increased police and/or military presence to provide for at least a semblance of extra public security.

Rain got so close to Zihuatanejo I could smell it Friday night, and thunderstorms danced by along our coast just outside the bay, but it never rained in downtown Zihuatanejo. Rain remains in the forecast for tonight and every day throughout the coming week. Let's hope Mother Nature is kind and we don't get torrential rains. Another tropical disturbance is also expected to develop off our coast during the coming week, so let's hope it blows by like the last one.
