57 years ago tonight the USA lost the promise of a much better future than it ended up with when Bobby Kennedy was assassinated right after winning the California Democratic Primary (and he didn't have to cheat to do it like Hillary). I was watching it on TV when it happened. We'd already lost Dr. King earlier that year. Both of those were the saddest days of my life, and I still feel the rage and tremendous sadness to this day at what we lost. I also know Bobby would be terribly ashamed of what his son is doing today. Thank you for indulging me this transgression from my usual evening post.

The predicted mar de fondo doesn't seem to have had much effect in Zihuatanejo's bay or Ixtapa's Playa El Palmar. Another event is predicted for this Sunday.

I found today's weather quite pleasant, in spite of having to bring our laundry in from the rain. There's been a nice breeze for much of the day. Though I haven't enjoyed watching visitors swim in the unhealthy waters of our bay after what I witnessed wash into the bay yesterday. No warning signs were posted anywhere by the local government. Nothing. Extremely irresponsible on the part of our municipal government.

There's also been no comment at all by our local authorities even though Zihuatanejo made NATIONAL NEWS due to 9 members of the Guardia Nacional being ambushed near Vallecitos Wednesday evening, with 7 killed and 2 gravely wounded and currently in the local hospital.

A tropical storm and possible hurricane is expected to form up off our coast within the next couple of days. Rain is in our forecast for this Friday night, and it already rained briefly a short while ago and is expected to continue throughout the weekend. Then during the next week we may get to see the entire process repeat itself with an even bigger storm. This is usually what happens at this time of year, though the water is still warmer than normal, and that could make the storms form up and become larger even more quickly. Hurricane season is coming to life!

The Eco-Tianguis Sanca will be in the small plaza across from the museum this Saturday from 8:30 A.M. until 1:30 P.M. Come enjoy arts, crafts, good food and drinks (including quality mescal and locally grown coffee), music, educational talks, and lots of good vibes and wonderful people.

Like you, I remember watching TV and seeing Bobbie Kennedy get shot. It changed my life and still makes a difference in how I view things.

The streetlights on la Ropa, at least between the dolphins and OXXO are flashing madly. It used to be that after the first rains the power would go out. Better to have flashing streetlights!

The weather today has been great, we got a paddle in, although I douched my sinuses for the first time in many months Send me good vibes for nasty water in my head!

My thanks to Tim for his advice on what to do to prevent illness.
