It looks like we're in for several days of rain as a tropical disturbance takes shape and passes close by our coast. What worries me is the possible formation of an even larger system by the latter part of the coming week. The loss of trees on our hillsides for all the new constructions is a recipe for disaster for our bay and low-lying areas.

The bay is currently unhealthy for swimming, but you'll notice the municipal government who says they test the bay water regularly neither posts any test results nor posts warning signs at the beaches. I guess they figure by the time our visitors get ill from swimming in our bay they'll be home and far away from local media. A damn shame and a terrible disservice to our visitors who trust us to warn them of such dangers.

Today's weather is my favorite. It was cloudy much of the day, especially in the early morning and the late afternoon, and a light rain came and went in the late afternoon, mostly a mist-like rain that cooled things down without causing any flooding. It was possible to take a stroll and barely be damp. This is the tropical weather that I love. I'm hoping the winds won't pick up very much in the coming days as predicted as the storms off our coast organize and hug the coast.

Not a day goes by that I don't give thanks to have spent most of my life right here in Zihuatanejo with the love of my life, far from so much of the madness that has gripped so much of the rest of the world. If I'm not the luckiest Gringo in Mexico, I'm certainly one of them. B-)

[image]Imagine waking up here in the mornings, at one of the bungalows at Casa Ki on the beach in Troncones, a peaceful remote tropical village on the warm and friendly southern coast of Mexico: a place where natural beauty still rules and times seems to slow down and stretch out at the same time. A place where stress simply doesn't factor into one's daily routine.

The place I was staying offered a day pass to the Thompson. Not something I would normally do but figured I would live it up for my anniversary.

Although it was pretty obvious to me, the staff warned all guests numerous times that it was not safe in the bay that day. So props to them.

Our access is next to The Thompson, and the staff has learned to know us over the last 8 or so years. We have a very major anniversary coming up, and seeing as they are dog friendly, I might set us up for a night or two with them.

If they say they waves are big, I'd be inclined to believe them.
