I was surprised to wake up to no rain this Sunday morning. Rain had been predicted for most of the night, but after a brief early evening sprinkle, the rain apparently avoided us. The winds picked up considerably during Sunday morning, and they moved a lot of sand from Playa Principal off the beach and onto the walkway and even into the street. If you look carefully, you can see the blur of the sand blowing in today's photo.

Tormenta Tropical Bárbara has moved away, and we barely even got any rain from it. But according to weather models, another potentially much bigger storm may form up even closer to us off our coast in the coming week, and it could affect us a lot more severely. We really don't need a direct hit by a massive storm, but we need to prepare for it nevertheless. I won't hold my breath waiting for the local government to warn the community or to take any meaningful precautionary measures.

Most of Mexico stands behind the L.A. protestors fed up with the barbaric racism against people who look like Latinos by the U.S. federal government in the form of ICE raids, acting more like a 1938-style fascist dictatorship than a sane freedom-loving western-style government. Anyone who supports what's being done to Latinos in the States shouldn't be in Mexico.

Zihuatanejo lost one of its beloved son's today, David Luna Bravo was murdered in broad daylight in Colonia La Noria this Sunday morning. Another victim of the municipal government's abject failure at providing any semblance of public security. David was the former Director of Servicios Públicos who managed to keep Zihuatanejo cleaner than it had ever been. Our hearts go out to his family.

The waterfront walkway was almost completely covered in sand from the wind earlier today. The barrenderos are going to have their work cut out for them Monday morning. Not many people were on the Paseo del Pescador this evening, though we did run into our friends el capitán José of the sport fishing cruiser "La Bamba" and his wife Irene who were all spiffed up and looking mighty fine. The city cancelled the events for this evening's Domingo Cultural, a Gloria Trevi impersonator, though there was no need to since the storm blew past us earlier in the day. Oh well.
