We awoke to clearing skies that eventually became sunny as it turned into another picture-postcard-perfect day in Zihuatanejo. Lucky us! Especially those of us who are fathers who got treated to special meals by our kids today. I'm always surprised anyone even remembers Día del Padre, though I appreciate the sentiment. The only sign of Dalila was the garbage on the beach and in the streets including minor rock slides and other debris from the constant rain for a whole day, and the ocean was dirty and choppy with large waves, but of course no one was warned not to swim in Zihuatanejo's bay for health reasons, although black flags were located at Ixtapa's beaches where all the hotels have big pools for their guests. The downtown beach was mostly cleaned up by large work crews with rakes and shovels, and a front-end loader that didn't care if sea turtles nested on beaches or not.

Needless to say, I don't recommend swimming in the ocean for a couple of days.

Las Gatas was open for business as usual today, but Isla Ixtapa remained closed. The Capitanía de Puerto may allow use of the pier at Playa Linda this Monday.

Playa Principal lost some beach from the high waves. Fishing pangas are tied up tightly to the palm trees that the last mayor didn't cut down during his so-called remodelación where too much beach space was covered with his company's cement. I imagine the rest of the coast fared similarly or worse. There've been reports of damage to numerous enramada restaurants at various popular beaches up and down the coast.

Though rain remains in the forecast, the coming week looks good so far, with a possible repeat of another tropical storm around next weekend. Oh boy.

Después de la lluvia se puso muy bonito y enverdecieron los cerros del anfiteatro de la bahía. ¡Qué hermoso es mi Zihuatanejo!
