Big rain, a window on our lives

About 6:30 it was time to swim with our three dogs. We do it at least twice a day, for pleasure and to make sure out 14.5+ year old girl gets her exercise. What are pools for?

It was looking really dark, and just as we hit the water, the rain did too. HARD!!! The two younger dogs didn't like it, one ran upstairs and went to her safe spot, under the bed. She is still there 3 hours later. The young one hid in a planter, really silly.

Karma swam like a champ with us, the rain pouring down hard. After only six laps, 90 meters, we all bailed out and ran for the house. In the next 35 minutes we got over an inch, 3 cm of rain. It POURED!!! Thunder and lightning kicked in toward the end.

Now? after dinner? Zihuatl is still under the bed, it's raining again, now up to 1.3 inches, 4 cm. Diva is wearing her older sister's thunder shirt and it is working great. Need to buy her a smaller one. Karma doesn't hear that well anymore and the big storms bother her, but not horribly anymore.

If you have a pet that is spooked by thunder and or lightning, try a thundershirt.

Life in Zihuatanejo is great.

There is a Cerenia that works very well for noise aversion in dogs. It’s an oral gel that lasts for a few hours. Whe we used it, Bialy, our older dog actually watched the fireworks. It was around $30 for enough to treat both dogs.

We looked for it when you mentioned it before, and it doesn't seem to be available in Mexico, yet.

We are now over 1.75 inches for the day!!

Aside from being mind boggling, we lost power for 30 seconds, and information on our weather station. Year to date rainfall information is wrong, should be 3 inches higher than it is showing. Had to have been due to the intensity of the lightning, everything is battery backed up.

2am the pool lights were on red. Checked them, they were off, turned them on and got the normal blue. Turned them off, back to red in the off position. This morning, they are off and functioning normally.
