The sun was out bright and warm first thing this Thursday morning. All the plants were going ooh and aah soaking in the rays. A few visitors were out'n'about, but it was still a slow day for local businesses, the ones that opened. Very few people were on the downtown beach today even though was a picture-postcard-perfect day. The rain that had been forecast never showed up, but a bit of haze did. Not much, just enough to look a little smoky, but it wasn't smoke. Enjoy the sunshine for now, because it looks like we may have several days of rain as the tropical disturbance coming at us from the south gets better organized and picks up energy right in front of us. Hopefully it will continue its northwesterly trajectory and not turn into us.

In a little over a week on July 4 flights begin on Volaris airline between Morelia and Zihuatanejo. It will be interesting to see if it makes a noticeable difference in our tourism since people who fly here tend to be better spenders that people who come by car or bus.

And in a little over 2 weeks summer vacation begins for Mexican students on July 16. This year their vacations will be a little longer since they won't return until September 1.

I saw fishermen on the beach this evening weighing a good-sized tuna, so they're still catching them. Dorado should also be showing up soon as the trash lines and debris from the rains form up along our coast. We certainly eat well here, that's for sure!
