I thought we might get lucky and enjoy a sunny Tuesday with Flossie past, but no such luck, though there was a lovely rainbow this morning. The sun peeked through a few times, but we also had a couple of brief rainfalls and some wind gusts. Nothing torrential. Flossie was visible on our western horizon all day as it grew in size. Even the ocean has calmed down here, and the port of Zihuatanejo and Playa Linda were reopened to navigation by small vessels. Let's hope it doesn't cause too much destruction along the rest of the coast to our north.

As predicted, animosity against Gringos is growing due to what the U.S. federal government is doing, so it behooves Gringos to keep a low profile and be polite. If you're someone who voted for terrorist thugs and ethnic cleansing, stay in the USA, you aren't welcome here. It's bad enough that our municipal government is targeting Gringos for extortion and setting them up for ambushes to be arrested, like what happened on La Ropa Beach recently.

Another day of slow tourism. The waterfront restaurants were mostly empty, and the few people out strolling on the Paseo were mostly locals. We didn't see any boat traffic at the pier. Those of us who work for a living here often see people we haven't seen for months or years during this time of year. Many shops and restaurants didn't even bother to open.

A luxurious private beachfront compound in Troncones featuring a 3-bedroom villa with a private pool, three 1-bedroom MiniVillas, and two side-by-side 2-story 1-bedroom bungalows that share a pool. Truly an oasis in paradise!

Se formó un bonito arcoíris durante el amanecer mientras las últimas bandas del huracán Flossie pasaron sobre Zihuatanejo. ¡Adiós!

Rob, happy Tuesday. A heads up: My malware provider has tagged the casa de la sirena website as a danger. You might want to investigate that.

I wrote the code for the entire website by hand. When I first started hosting the site, someone else had designed it using WordPress, and it got hacked a couple of times. But that was over 5 years ago that I rewrote it. There's no malicious code in it now. The only external link is to StatCounter, which I use on all my websites, including mine and yours.

There is no problem with the website, and I hope those of you who receive the notification will reply or notify whoever (Chrome?) that they're in error (to put it nicely).

I've always thought it was poor taste to wear, in Zihua or in any foreign country, clothing that identifies my national origin. But it sounds like I should dig out my old Canadian flag t-shirt. Or maybe get one printed that says:

NO SOY GRINGO

I like seeing someone wearing something that identifies them as being Mexican, or Greek, or from any of a variety of countries that have not invaded my country, stolen our land, threatened to annex it, etc. In fact, I wear a t-shirt proclaiming “Hecho en Mexico” when I am not in Mexico, even though I wasn’t. (I’m planning to return that shirt to Mexico and give it to someone who really was “hecho en Mexico”.)

I can understand why it might be in poor taste to wave a French flag in Haiti, a Union Jack in a place that was subject to British imperialism, or an American flag in… well, a number of places, including Mexico. I’m not sure why it might be in poor taste for an Australian, or New Zealander, or Canadian to wear something discrete that indicates where they are from.

After “W” was elected, I started thinking that all Americans had the same surname, “Ididntvoteforhim”. It seemed that every American introduced themself the same way…

“Hi, I’m Pat Ididntvoteforhim.”

“Hi, I’m Sandy Ididntvoteforhim.”

Eventually I hypothesized that the people who did vote him didn’t vacation in Mexico.

I never meet staunch Trumpians or Bushians overseas.
They're stuck at home with the missus and pit bull loading up their gun racks and stocking up on Cheez Whiz and Freedom Fries.
The ones who don't admit it,I guess we would have to call them "CryptoMAGAts."

In 2017, when the morally bankrupt, cruel, vindictive, corrupt, lying, narcissistic, pussy-grabbing, white supremacist Dictator Wannabe first defiled the White House, I went to our popular and talented tee-shirt shop in Rosarito and asked if they could make a tee-shirt with "Lo Siento Mucho - No Voté Por El Pinche Trump." The assistant said, "Oh, Señor, we have something mucho mejor for you!"

He showed me two images that they could put onto tee-shirts.

I ordered three of each. They were a very big hit in Mexico. Wore them everywhere I went. People would often stop and ask if they could take a photo of the tee-shirts, sometimes posing with me. The nightly Lottery folks down by the Cancha got a kick out of them. I was always careful to not wear them crossing back in the States. However, one time I forgot that I had one on -- Uuups -- but thankfully, the CBP agent roared with laughter. He loved it!

In 2020, I gave them to the meseros at my favorite (now defunct) restaurant on La Madera.

Before my next bombing run to my favorite place in the Universe, I need to buy more. I think I will forgo the El Maligno in favor of El Pendejo exclusively. That one was much more popular.

I bought a "F*ck Trump" sign in Zihua made of Mexican license plates. My wife won't let me hang it in the house, so it's in the garage. I'd post a picture if I knew how.

I like the "Hecho en Mexico" t-shirts, with the big eagle insignia. But the only one I could find in Zihua said:
"Hecho en Mexico, Pero Bien Hecho"
which I thought was a tad embarrassing.

Thanks for the warning amigo. My actual “Mexican” friends in Zihuatanejo still want me to come. Unfortunately we will not be back until March, installing a new system at work. As in June, I will be the guy wearing a Dodgers hat walking from La Ropa to Playa Linda, sorry if my hat insults every single Mexican. Also sorry if I am not spending where you will see it. Only thing I am interested in buying besides food, drink and fishing are Tshirts from SPAZ and a hat for when I walk back home. After 2 trips to Taxco, even my wife stopped buying earrings. Lupita does have an excellent shop. We like many have fallen into that nasty internet trap of buying most of our clothes online. We did walk over to Fonda Los Amuzgos for the first time last month, I asked “Tambien para gringos?” and got nothing back except for a laugh and a smile. Food was very good there, a nice place to drop in before shopping at the Soriana. As with any central mercado we have been to for a meal, they were fighting for our business. Tough to beat a good plate of camarones a la diabla at the mercado.

The only problem I ever had in Zihuatanejo was customs and last month they didn’t even open a bag. Also had the best welcoming to Zihuatanejo ever, Ramon’s first son is now working in immigration and stamped our passports letting us in Mexico. Compared to Fresno California I feel very safe in Zihuatanejo even during the combover years. Always good advice to keep a low profile and be respectful when visiting a foreign country, especially for a horrid red hat gringo.

On the contrary, Mexicans love the Dodgers. Fernando Forever!

Yea, the nice Canadiens who think it’s ok to plant their flag next to the MX flag on La Ropa.
