We awoke to mostly sunny skies and enjoyed another day of excellent weather with mild temperatures. The hillsides are abundantly lush and verdant, as pretty as they get except for the scars from constructions that are replacing our trees. Some rain clouds appeared on our eastern horizon around sunset, but they never reached downtown Zihuatanejo.

Though schools don't officially close until next Wednesday, for all intents and purposes this weekend is when the summer vacation period gets underway. The number of visitors in town continues increasing. This evening while strolling along the downtown waterfront we saw several restaurants full of people, both locals and visitors, while others were having graduation celebrations. Quite a few people were also at the downtown beach this afternoon and well past sunset, having a wonderful time and enjoying themselves.

Tourist buses will now be parking at the end of calle Cinco de Mayo in Las Salinas, which is a very long walk to the hotels where they usually stay. The municipal government had plenty of forewarning that this was going to happen, yet they took no measures to help reduce the inconvenience to visitors. I feel bad for our tourists who now have to drag their suitcases, children and coolers over 2 kilometers in some cases to reach the hotels where they usually stay. Shame on the municipal government for not having a better plan ready.

Come downtown to the Eco-Tianguis "Sanka" this Saturday morning in front of the Vicente Guerrero school across from the museum from 8:30 AM until 1:00 PM. You'll find all kinds of goodies including fresh tamales, hot locally grown coffee, delicious pastries, fresh produce, handcrafts, and plenty of other goodies!

[image]One of the nicer more affordable vacation rentals in La Madera neighborhood is Casa Linda located atop the small hill at La Madera with views of the bay and town. Three apartments that can be rented all together or individually, each beautifully decorated with Mexican handcrafts. One with two en-suite bedrooms and two with one bedroom each as well as a sofa or pull out bed. All with full kitchens, living area, balconies, and shared access to a garden with BBQ facilities as well as the rooftop terrace.
