For hours during late Monday night I could see lightning on the horizon grow closer and more frequent as a huge storm cell enveloped much of the Costa Grande between Zihuatanejo and Acapulco. The satellite image made it look like a monster, and it kept growing. Finally I could see the mouth of the beast when the lightning was almost constantly illuminating the rain falling beneath the storm clouds, getting closer and closer. The winds picked up to near tropical storm strength, knocking over photo props on the beach, and blowing palm fronds straight back on the palm trees. They whipped tree branches around, and kicked up sand from the beach like a sandblaster, sending everyone along the waterfront running for shelter. Finally the monster appeared ready to engulf our bay with a wall of rain that looked like a deluge coming. I waited and waited... and it barely sprinkled for a few minutes. Not even enough to leave a puddle in the street. Talk about a TEASE! What a letdown! ¡Tamos sala'o!

I'm sure some roofs blew off and some trees blew down somewhere, but I've only seen reports of lights going out in El Limón and Darío Galeana and photos of trees blown over without any location.

I guess we should've expected the criminal U.S. administration to tell lies about Mexico in their recent State Department travel advisory that came out today, as they usually do, but they really went overboard this time. Their latest report says their citizens are in danger of terrorism in Mexico, including in Zihuatanejo. Pure bullsh¡t! U.S. citizens are much safer in Mexico than in their own country where people are being kidnapped off the streets and disappeared by armed masked thugs with badges and denied their basic rights including Due Process. DO NOT TRAVEL TO THE USA! It's not safe there while the Pedophile-in-Chief remains in the White House! The longer he's there, the more reason to escape to Mexico for safety, sanity and relaxation.

Tucked away in a lovely gardened property less than a block from the beach at Playa La Ropa is another one of our hidden jewels with a French flair named Casa Iguana. Gracias, Tim. It only lasted a few brief moments before the light faded. I was surprised that the camera was able to catch so much detail in such low light.

I can sort of understand the reasoning behind trying to scare Americans away from Mexico. When we became permanent residents of Mexico, we didn't just remove ourselves from the USA. We removed our money, our professional skills and our educations. A number of US citizens I've spoken with are leaving, including my family physician who is planning to relocate to Spain. The "brain drain" from the USA to other nations is a major embarrassment.

And it's a damn shame, because the USA used to be the only thing keeping China and Russia from invading the rest of the world, but all that's changed now as is made obvious by a war criminal from a terrorist nation being welcomed to the USA so the Pedophile-in-Chief can pretend to be seeking peace and get nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize that he wants so badly. He'll obviously back Russia's claim to Ukrainian lands. But imagine what a hero he could be if instead he arrested Putin. Not only would that stop the war in Ukraine, it would make him a hero. But he's too greedy and self-centered to do anything so noble and righteous. Plus, Putin has some good dirt on him.

Come to think of it, doesn't the USA have some partnership with the Hague that would promote the opportunity or even affirmative duty to arrest this thug and war criminal once he touches down? He's been thumbing his KGB nose at the world for a quarter century.

Me and the wife are definitely considering a move, much like many Germans did when the Nazi's took over Germany. About the only thing holding us here are my elderly parents and my treatments for cancer. However, maybe there are options on the medical side. We have grandkids, but they can visit, at least currently. Ashamed of what this once great Country is becoming and the lack of citizen awareness that is allowing and enabling it.
