Some visitors showed up this weekend, but not very many, and I've not seen many that have the purchasing power our community needs its visitors to have in order to prosper. With increased flights from other inland cities, we should notice more middle- and upper-class Mexicans in a few months when the high season approaches. I suspect the problem remains the same: lack of targeted advertising. The government at all levels seems more intent on appearances than actual results, and they invite travel agents and so-called influencers and throw parties for them, and the travel agents send us buses of people with little money to spend, and the influencers don't appear to send us anyone.

Decent but mostly smallish surfing waves continue arriving along our coast, and surfers have been enjoying them. This coming Monday the beginning of another mar de fondo event is expected, but the waves aren't expected to be very large. Only from 1.6 to 2.3 meters.

We had a couple of minor quakes shake the area this Saturday afternoon: a 4.5 and a 4.1 just off the coast of Petatlán. A reminder to be humble, to remain alert, to always be prepared and to wear your good underwear. September seems to be a month of heightened activity for us in Mexico.

There's a slight chance of some rain tonight and for tomorrow. It feels quite humid out at the moment, and clouds have been covering the almost-full moon this evening.

[image]Playa Blanca is a place that still enjoys much peace and tranquility, a place where the stars still appear clearly in the evening skies and where whales and dolphins can be seen spouting and breaching from the shore. El Manantial is an affordable vacation lodging located right on the beach at Playa Blanca offering two one-bedroom bungalows and two houses, one with three bedrooms and the other with six, each with A/C and wi-fi internet, and access to a common pool and a beachfront lounge area.

Mes de los ZIHsmos

I've been coming to Zihua for 25 years and been an owner of several properties. Now down to one. The airport has seen little if any real improvement. Petty extortion, no loading bridges, no FBO for private planes and you still have to taxi on the runway. The Ixtapa marina used to be nice and have more boats and more activity. A lot of the boats and the purchasing power associated with them have gone elsewhere. The marina lighthouse is long gone and only a couple restaurants are left. How about golf? The marina golf course was a gem 25 years ago. It's sad to see a nice track in such disrepair. Palma real is in better shape after Fonatur sold, but the price is steep. Golfers, who generally have decent purchasing power, can play other courses. For many people with disposable income, the beach, natural beauty and food is a good start, but it is not enough. For a place that relies on tourism, the decay of its infrastructure results in more mid to low price vacationers.
