Kapital's workaround
This past week I finally got my paws on a sheet containing the info to wire funds from a USA location to a Kapital Bank account in Mexico. I use a State chartered bank in Alaska. Since I am a geezer, for the past 10 years my wires to Intercam were always free regardless of the amount. They went to NYC where Intercam had a relationship with a bank there that then transferred the funds to Intercam in Mexico.
Under Kapital's new instructions, the funds first go to Cambridge Mercantile Corp (UK) then the funds are transferred to Barclays Bank in London and from there to Kapital in Mexico City.
What I used to be able to do for free now costs me $30 as it is treated as a foreign wire transfer and my old age will not get me a fee waiver. At least this first time it took approximately 40 hours to show up in my Kapital account in Zihua instead of 24 hours or less with Intercam. I don't view this as progress.
Kapital's workaround
Use Wise. Nice app. Funds show up in under 5 minutes. Exchange rate is better than the banks, But there is a Reasonable fee. Almost everyone we know uses Wise.

what would be the fee to move $25 K USD to Kapital. I am house hunting and need more than just nickels and dimes.

That's why I'm a Wise guy.

So I just checked my account and 25K would deliver 446,340 pesos to my account in Mex.
choose your calculations carefully including your bank fees and whatever lousy conversion Kapital will give you.

last Friday 12/19 Kapital paid 17.6 and change per USD
Being Wise
That’s a lousy exchange rate. Last Friday at a Bancomer ATM I got 17.98.

Damn. Beat me to it!

I just used Wise’s convenient online fee and conversion calculator.
US$25k would deliver M$446,366 after Wise fee of US$131.
Always remember to look at the amount in pesos actually deposited by a service. Some might have lower service fees and higher exchange rate. Others might have lower exchange rates and higher service fees.

Well NOW the rate is worse than last Friday. Remember Wise gives you the actual exchange rate the currency is trading at, today would be 17.94
